THe aliens are coming
This campaign is is designed with three goals in mind:
To promote the release of my EP “Welcome to the Space Ranch” which is out 1/1/2025
To acclimate humanity to new ideas of what open contact with Extra Terrestrials would look like
To benefit Austin’s unhoused population & incite introspection on the lack of tangible solutions created for our community.
We started with AI
Beginning with AI-based images allowed us to quickly iterate and narrow in on the concept for the campaign and EP cover.
The first images (like the one shown here) implied violence. I want humans to consider that Open Contact could be quite fun and beneficial to use on an individual level. I asked Canva’s AI to show images without violence.
Second draft
This image felt visceral, but didn’t accurately reflect the emotions I wanted the audience to experience. Open Contact with ET will be a joyous occasion. This was giving invasion, which I wanted to stay away from.
In the media, there is already a wealth of propaganda for a violent Alien takeover of Earth. The idea is embedded into the very concept of “Aliens” themselves. We have a lot of work to do as a collective to rewrite the narrative and take back the power. We are not victims of ET. We are co-creators.
The final poster.
We will take the final poster crafted by the illustrator and post it around the city of Austin TX. Several hundred copies will also be handed out to key members of Austin’s unhoused community, who will be compensated for handing out as many as they can to folks on the street. They will also be given free hoodies with the images on them so they can stay warm during the winter months.

The image we sent to the human illustrator
This is the sample image we sent in to the (human) illustrator who specializes specifically in crafting vintage comic book images.
I felt this accurately showed the innovation and potential joys of the space age while being somewhat neutral upon first glance.
